Hunter Transmog: Green Machine

This set was built primarily around the heroic version of these shoulders, which drop in Dragon Soul. They have a really neat visual effect of spectral wolves flying out of them periodically (see below screenshot). For the rest of it, I just used the best greenish colored armor I had available.

Most of the main armor pieces are normal mode tier 15. Some of them have lookalikes available from other sources. The goggles do require engineering, but if you’re a hunter and not an engineer… what the heck are you doing? Switch professions stat!

The tabard is from a Burning Crusade quest line. If you’ve previously done this quest and received the purple tabard, you can simply destroy it and then restore it as the other color from the tabard vendor in Stormwind or Orgimmar. You can switch between the two colors as many times as you want.

The gun is the raid finder version from ToT which means you can get your hands on it relatively easily.

Helm: Deadly Bio-Optic Killshades (engineering)
Shoulders: Imperfect Specimens 27 and 28
Chest: Saurok Stalker’s Tunic
Tabard: Green Trophy Tabard of the Illidari (questing)
Shirt: n/a
Gloves: Saurok Stalker’s Gloves
Belt: Grievous Gladiator’s Links of Cruelty (honor points)
Legs: Saurok Stalker’s Legguards
Boots: Quakestompers
Weapon: Voice of the Quilen

I’ve put this set together in a Wowhead item comparison so you can quickly view it on other races in 3D (click the little triangle above the item icons).

  1. I’ve always been a leatherworker on my hunter. Is engineering really superior in your opinion?

    1. I just like the toys and perks. I was originally an engineer to craft my own ammo, but stayed for the fun stuff… it always felt like a profession well suited to hunters. Leatherworking is nice too. Like bwe said, the perks that professions give are about to become mostly irrelevant.

  2. I’ve a hunter with LW and a hunter with Eng. Both work. At the end of the day WoD may make the point moot.
