Hunters get 10 more stable slots in Battle for Azeroth

You can now tame a total of 65 pets with the addition of a 6th page of stable slots! No, it’s still probably not enough for some of you (an extra 100 might not be enough). But it’s 10 more, so that’s 10 new pets you can tame in 8.0 without worrying about having to send existing pets to pasture.

I’ve been busy working on Wowhead stuff, mainly updating the Beast Mastery guide for 8.0 (and I also put a BfA pet guide up there, which has a little more than the one I posted here). I still plan on making at least one more post here before the pre-patch, something like a survival guide (what talents and legendaries are good for the pre-patch and leveling, etc.).

If you’re curious about my updated thoughts on Beast Mastery: It’s getting better. There’s still a few dead talents and others that are obviously not tuned, but the spec has come a long way. It’s interesting how active talents are often the best (or at least equal) choice compared to passives. For example, Chimaera Shot is now the top talent in its tier (at least as of today). My thoughts on Marksmanship and Survival are not as up to date since I’ve been focusing on BM for the guide writing, but once the pre-patch drops I plan on giving them all some good time.

Until next time.

  1. I’m still hopeful that they’ll run with Frostheim’s suggestion of a wildlife preserve where we can release our pets and re-tame them later. There’s something very hunter-y about taking care of our pets, giving them a good life, yet still being able to get them back without having to go through all the trouble, time, and frustration that we went through on the original tame. Please, Blizz, if our battle pets can roam freely in the garrison, surely our hunter pets could have a sanctuary as well.

Thanks for the updates, Bendak. Helpful and timely, as always.

    1. They did something like the wildlife preserve in the first guild wars (you had your own instance on an island where you could charm the same type of beast again and even pick the stats on it if you raised to to certain levels, etc) so I don’t see why they can’t do that suggestion.

  2. Ok, that’s definitely something! Yup, I could use more Stable spots, but I’m happy to have this amount, for now 😄 Thank you for the update, Bendak! I think I may wake up my hunter soon (she’s been on holidays in her Garrison for most of Legion expansion lol).

I don’t know if it sounds lame, but that’s one of my favorite things to do on her. I always loved taming new pets 🤗❤️

Thanks so much for your passion and dedication to our Hunters, Bendak. You’re very much appreciated by so many. Take care!

  3. Some hunters were talking in trade about Misdirect and the new threat mechanic and how it impacts DSP. Do you see any issue with how Misdirect will reduce or impact our pet DPS?

  4. What are your thoughts on how the stable should be handled? Should it just get an extra page or two each expansion, or turned into a collection similar to Transmog? The reasoning they use is that each pet should feel like a special pet, but with the past few expansions pets & pet families have become less and less important. Going into BfA there’s hundreds if not at least a thousand total unique possible looks for pets to have.

  5. Come on Blizzard, just add Hunter Pet’s stable to Collections UI like Toys. You tame one, it’s added as a SPELL. You can summon them anytime without worrying about going to Stables at all if you want to switch one of the 5 pets on you at the moment.

We get more than one benefits with this change! No more “not enough stable slots” problem. No more “lets go to the town if we need to switch any of our 5 pets.” Makes sense?
