This week we were light on Hunter news and light on Hunter hosts. We dipped into some of the general World of Warcraft news including the announcement that Hellfire Citadel will be the final raid of Warlords of Draenor. We speculate on what that might mean for the timing of the next expansion.
San Diego Comic Con was this weekend so we took the time to discuss the Warcraft movie panel. And, yes, Bendak and Darkbrew do talk about Hunters. Thinking of upgrading your Skull of War trinket? We tell you if it’s worth it. We also answer some questions from members of the WHU Facebook community.
The show is broadcast live on Twitch TV every second Sunday at 1:30 pm ET (17:30 GMT). The next episode is scheduled for Sunday, July 26. In addition to the live show, you can find it at:
Patch 6.2 features 8 new hunter pet looks. There are no rares, but one of the new pets is a challenge tame — the Felbound Wolf. You can learn more about how to tame that in this post.
The video below will give you a quick look at 7 of the new looks. The 8th is a red worm pet only available if you’re on a particular part of the garrison campaign (I’m past it, so I couldn’t tame it for this video). However, if someone in your party has the quest you should be able to see the worm.
This week, former host Arth pops in to say hello and he brings with him all the technical woes of the HPP’s previous incarnation. It was a rough ride, but we made it through to the end, and it was nice speaking with Arth once again.
We talk about the newly discovered taming challenge found recently on the PTR. We review all three Hunter specs and where they stand in Patch 6.2. We also talk about those elusive Hunter weapons and some things you can do to upgrade to a 695 weapon on day one of the patch.
The show is broadcast live on Twitch TV every second Sunday at 1:30 pm ET (17:30 GMT). The next episode is scheduled for Sunday, June 28. In addition to the live show, you can find it at:
I hope you like wolves, because we’ve got another one for you to tame.
Big congratulations to Qraljar on the Petopia forums for winning the contest to be first to discover how to tame a fel wolf! Somehow this little guy stayed hidden for the majority of the PTR, but the contest ran by Petopia got everyone out hunting for it. The prize was a Corrupted Hippogryph mount.
Fel wolves throughout Draenor are classed as aberrations, not beasts, so normally they aren’t available for taming. However, there is a special way to temporarily make a Felbound Wolf tameable. It’s a brand new taming challenge! The Felbound Wolf uses the same model and visual effect as Gara, but it’s green instead of purple. It’s also a part of the Wolf family instead of Spirit Beasts, meaning all hunter specs can enjoy it.
The challenge requires use of your full hunter toolkit, but if you’re having trouble doing it solo you can always ask a friend to help you out. Here’s how it’s done.
I’ve been playing a lot of alpha lately. Between the server instability, the crashes, and the constant bug report submissions it’s taken me quite a while to finish most of the quests in Shadowmoon Valley. Then there’s all the new pets to tame, killing rares, working on the Garrison…
I have some more hunter-specific stuff in the pipe for over the weekend, but for now I just wanted to do a quick dump of some of my favorite screenshots from the last day or so. The screens are all 2560×1440 and there might be some good wallpaper material in here. 🙂
The Tanaan ones are from the Warlords intro/starting experience, and the Shadowmoon Valley ones were taken throughout my questing experience. As a bonus, I’ve included some screenshots taken in Blasted Lands from the pre-Warlords 6.0 patch stuff where the Iron Horde begin invading through the Dark Portal.
