Hunter Transmog: Stormbreaker

Here we have another reader-submitted transmog, this one from Michael. He didn’t name it, so I did. Seemed like it was based around the chest piece, so I thought it was a fitting name. This may be a slightly challenging transmog set to complete because many of these pieces are quest rewards (though it looks like some of them can be obtained from alternate sources). Here’s what he had to say:

I wanted to share this set because I love the blue feather shoulders and chest so much, and there are not many blue sets for hunters out there. Notes: The hands and legs may be impossible for some to get because they are gotten off of a quest.

I’ve put this set together in a Wowhead item comparison so you can quickly view it on other races in 3D (click the little triangle above the item icons).

Hunter Transmog: Shado-Pan Beast Lord

Today’s hunter transmog was submitted by Jaeger on Drak’thul-US. He calls it “Shado-Pan Beast Lord.” I love how the mount’s armor matches the Beast Lord stuff, and how the cats also match. Nice job, Jaeger! Thanks for submitting. Most of these items are obtained in Burning Crusade dungeons with the obvious exception of the Shado-Pan hat acquired by getting exalted with the Shado-Pan.

Helm: Replica Shado-Pan Helmet
Shoulder: Beast Lord Mantle
Chest: Beast Lord Cuirass
Shirt: Ebon Filigreed Doublet
Gloves: Beast Lord Handguards
Belt: Girdle of Ferocity
Legs: Beast Lord Leggings
Feet: Boots of the Endless Hunt (Alternative: Boots of the Renewed Flight)
Weapon: Coilfang Needler

I’ve put this set together in a Wowhead item comparison so you can quickly view it on other races in 3D (click the little triangle above the item icons).

Hunter Transmog: Outrunner’s Mail

I saw this one posted on Twitter by @ikralla and thought it looked nice for a Pandaren hunter transmog. He kindly provided me with some screenshots and an item list so I can share it with you. I’m more into the bulkier armor, but a lot of people like these more minimalist transmogs I’ve discovered. Also, it uses one of my top 5 favorite bows.

All of these items (except the bow) are BoE pieces you’ll need to find on the auction house.

Helm: n/a
Shoulder: Grunt’s Pauldrons
Chest: Outrunner’s Chestguard
Shirt: n/a
Gloves: Outrunner’s Gloves
Belt: Outrunner’s Cord
Legs: Outrunner’s Legguards
Feet: Outrunner’s Slippers
Weapon: Crypt Fiend Slayer

I’ve put this set together in a Wowhead item comparison so you can quickly view it on other races in 3D (click the little triangle above the item icons).

The featured pet is Quall, a rare bird of prey in Stonetalon Mountains.

Hunter Transmog: The Mercenary

I was going for a “gun for hire” vibe with this transmog. I had a lot of fun putting it together. Most of the pieces aren’t too hard to find, though some of the green items will probably cost you. The whole set can be completed solo.

No matter how many times I kill Flame Leviathan (25m) I can never get the goggles to drop, which I think would also go well with this transmog as an alternative to the eye patch. Both are pretty cool options. I chose the Rifle of the Stoic Guardian over Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle because it’s more compact and fits better with the theme of the set, though the rifle would go well with it too (what transmog doesn’t that rifle go with?).

Hunter Transmog: Dread Hunter

Today, we have another reader-submitted hunter transmog, this one from Zägerin on Drakkari.  Here is what they had to say about the transmog they call “Dread Hunter.”

After spending too much in the Dread Wastes for no good reason, I wanted a Black/whitish set for my hunter. This is the end result, the shoulders being the more difficult part to match. I am not happy about them but it’s the best I could do.

Helm: n/a

Hunter weapons in Warlords of Draenor

I thought I’d put together a little post with pictures of all the datamined hunter weapons in Warlords of Draenor. This will be one of those posts I keep on the sidebar and I’ll update it any time new weapons are added.

I’ll link the appropriate items when I can, but some of them (like the questing ones) will be used for multiple weapons.

If you’re viewing this post long after Warlords has been released, keep in mind all of these are patch 6.0 models.

Hunter Transmog: Alliance Rifleman

I have a soft spot for this armor set. Back in vanilla, I spent a great deal of my time PvPing and I seriously lusted over this set. It was so prestigious that I remember only 1 or 2 hunters on my realm even had the full set since you needed to be rank 14 to get it all. The highest I ever got was rank 10 (Lieutenant Commander), and I played a lot of PvP. To give you an idea how much, I had about 75,000 honorable kills before Burning Crusade even came out. So you can imagine how much one would have to play to get rank 13 or 14 back then. I’m skeptical there were any rank 14s who didn’t account share at least a little bit.

Anyway, when patch 2.0 came along before Burning Crusade they let everyone buy this stuff with honor points. That short period between 2.0 and Burning Crusade was a fun time to be a hunter. Arcane Shot had just gotten buffed to scale with AP (before this it was a static 183 damage… I’m not even joking) and it was obscenely powerful. An instant cast ability which crit for 1500 or so back then was insane. Throw 2500 damage Aimed Shots on top of that and clothies didn’t stand a chance. Health pools averaged around 4k at that time.

Hunter Transmog: Green Machine

This set was built primarily around the heroic version of these shoulders, which drop in Dragon Soul. They have a really neat visual effect of spectral wolves flying out of them periodically (see below screenshot). For the rest of it, I just used the best greenish colored armor I had available.

Most of the main armor pieces are normal mode tier 15. Some of them have lookalikes available from other sources. The goggles do require engineering, but if you’re a hunter and not an engineer… what the heck are you doing? Switch professions stat!

Hunter Transmog: The Gunslinger

This transmog was submitted by Fooque of Ner’zhul-US. He calls it the “Gunslinger” and here’s what he had to say about it:

This one begins with the “Straw Hat”. This hat can be purchased in any material once you reach exalted with The Tillers and achieve “Best Friends” with Old Hillpaw. I like things that are a little quirky so with my “Farmer” title I set out to find a proper farmer transmog. I wanted pieces that looked as “leathery” as possible. I also wanted to show off the red Lumberjack Shirt which required using a vest for the chest piece and minimizing the shoulders. After a number of trials, I settled on the Talhide pieces (same look as Netherstorm) for the bulk of the transmog. It’s all brown and leathery. I chose the Boneweave Girdle for the belt. It seems perfect with its big shiny buckle and the darker color syncs nicely with the darker brown of the shoulders and the hat.

I’ve always preferred bows but when I found how perfectly the Magnetized Projectile Emitter fit with the look, I had to go with the gun. The gold, reds and brown of the gun mesh nicely with the reds of the shirt and the gold trim throughout. And with the gun, the “farmer” look I had set out to create became a “gunslinger” look.

Hunter Transmog: Black Scourgestalker

This is a recolor of the tier 8 hunter set. Out of the 4 colors available (red, blue, green, black) I definitely think this one takes the cake. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Blizzard did not add the black version of the helm to the game. I couldn’t find a good match in my transmog collection, so I defaulted to my trusty eye patch, which goes with everything!

This armor itself is acquired mostly in 10-player Ulduar (only 1 hard mode) and is soloable by any level 90 hunter. The only one that you may need some help on is with Thorim. You need to… get creative… in order to do this by yourself. You can bring a friend to help, or check out Darkbrew’s video on how to do it here. Thorim will be made “officially” soloable in patch 6.0, but that is still a while off. The other bosses you need are straight forward burns, except you should be cautious with Freya. If you kill her too fast, she won’t spawn her chest and you won’t get any loot. Some of Mimiron’s abilities in hard mode can still hurt you, so don’t faceroll it too much.
